How do I transfer a call ?
If you are using VoIP phones for user extensions you should refer to the phones user guide for performing call transfer. Normally you will use the VoIP phones 'transfer' button to initiate a call transfer.
If you are using a regular phone or mobile for user extensions you can still perform call transfer. Before you can transfer a call you will need to have the extension code for the person you wish to transfer to.
Here's a very simple example to illustrate: Calls to +441212298520 ring Alice directly on extension 201. Bob's extension is 200 which is a mobile phone (Bob's user extension is not connected to any number, so can only be reached by call transfer).
There two types of transfer supported
Attended - Where Bob and Alice have a conversation before the transfer ( caller is on hold )
Blind - Where the call is transferred directly with no conversation ( caller goes straight to other extension )
Here's how they work.
Attended
Caller dials +441212298520 and gets connected with Alice.
Alice now wants to pass the call to Bob, but before transferring would like to make sure he's available.
Alice initiates the transfer of the call to Bob by pressing **200 on the dialpad of her phone.
Immediately the caller get's placed on hold (they hear music) and Alice hears Bobs phone ringing.
Bob picks up his phone and talks to Alice (caller is still on hold)
Alice then hangs up the phone OR presses ** and the caller gets connected directly to Bob.
Alternatively, if Bob does not want to talk with the caller.
Blind
Caller dials +441212298520 and gets connected with Alice.
Alice now wants to pass the call immediately to Bob.
Alice initiates the transfer of the call to Bob by pressing ##200 on the dialpad of her phone.
Immediately the caller hears Bobs phone ringing and Alice drops out of the call.
Bob picks up his phone and talks to the caller
Alternatively, if Bob does not pickup the call
The outpout at the bottom of the Block is taken, since Bob's out put is not connected in this example the call would simply be hung up. However, voicemail or other features can easily be added by connecting further blocks.
