What is a UK 0870 number ?
A UK 0870 number is a non-geographic service number. This means that in the UK the caller always pays a fixed access charge and fixed service charge.
access charge: This part of the call charge goes to your phone company, charged as pence per minute. They will tell you how much the access charge will be for calls to service numbers. It will be made clear on bills and when you take out a contract.
service charge: This is the rest of the call charge. The organisation you are calling decides this, and will tell you how much it is.
Ofcom (UK regulator) states the service charge for calls to 087 numbers must be between 0p and 13p per minute. The access charge is set by your phone company (but must be the same for all 087 numbers).
We provide the following 0870 numbers ranges with service charges;
Note 1: 0870 numbers are subject to regulation by the PSA (Phone-paid Services Authority). IF the service you provide is subject to certain special conditions then you will need to register with the PSA (a regular business sales and enquiry line would not need to register).
Note 2: Some countries do not allow calling from abroad to 0870 numbers.
