Connecting a Regular Phone Line (Divert)

Even if a staff member does not have a desk phone they can be a User Extension in the system. When you call a User Extension with only a Phone Line the call is diverted to the regular phone number configured. The user can then take the call as if they are on a local extension, they can even perform call transfer to other local extensions.

In our example John has an extension 200 which can be dialed from any desk phone but he only carriers a mobile phone. Let's see how it's setup.

  1. Change to Edit Mode by clicking 'Edit' on the top left of the workspace.
    Click 'Edit'.
  2. In the Block Library to the right of the workspace click the gear icon to open up the User Extension settings dialog.
Click the gear icon to open settings
  3. Select the Phone Line (Divert) tab in the the User Extension settings dialog. Enter the Phone Number and other settings. The setting “Use '*' Call Accept” prompts the receiver to press '*' to accept the call, this is useful for skipping a local voicemail message (voicemail can't press '*').
Enter the Phone Number and other settings.
  4. Switch to tab General Settings and make sure Ringing Order is set to Just Phone, then Save the settings.
Make sure Ringing Order is set to Just Phone, then Save
  5. Finally to activate the changes you have made you will need to click 'Apply Changes'. You can make a test call to the extension short code you just added.
Activate the new Extension with 'Apply Changes'.
